Boise's Best Desserts!

As per one of my cousins who is a nationally celebrated pastry chef, this humble little gem blows it out of the water 😲

We went to Janjou Patisserie and he nearly fell out of his chair because these desserts were so good 🤤!! This is a must try spot. 💯 And if anyone cares THIS MUCH about the BUTTER that goes into their creations…my hats off to ya 👩🏻‍🍳 (Continued below...)

“We use high quality, organic and local ingredients as much as possible. The butter, (the heart and soul of our pastries) is Beurre d’Isigny. This is the best butter in the world. Beurre D’Isigny Unsalted Butter is AOP (appellation d’origine protégée) and made exclusively from the milk of the Isigny terroir in France. Nothing is added or taken away from the butter and it is famous for its golden buttercup color and distinctive grassy notes. We use Valrhona chocolate in all of our pastries, desserts and drinks.”

Every dessert and pastry are meticulously handcrafted daily by Moshit and her team of bakers who have a great passion for quality and detail.

Janjou was founded in Boise, Idaho in 2008 by Moshit and Chuck, a husband and wife, as a wholesale bakery selling mostly cookies to local shops. A retail bakery and a cafe was opened in 2013.

Moshit, owner and Pastry Chef of Janjou Pâtisserie, moved to Boise from Israel in 2007.

She graduated from Estella kitat Oman, a leading baking school in Israel and completed her internship at Mazzarrine, a high end French Pâtisserie in the Tel-Aviv area.

Since then she has continued her education by taking many classes taught by renowned French pastry chefs.

Moshit is a two-time semi-finalist in the “Best Baker” category by the James Beard Foundation, nominated in 2016 and 2020.

If you have not been yet, or are new to the area…I HIGHLY recommend a visit! Make sure you pay attention to their hours AND go early, because yes - they DO sell out towards the later end of their day. 🚨 Th - Sun 8am-2pm
